Cajón

The word 'Cajón' means big box in Spanish. It is widely accepted that the first Cajónes were boxes of fruit pickers or slaves in coastal regions of Central & South America. The Cajón is now a national emblem for Peruvians, & an indispensable part of any ensemble that performs the traditional and folk music of Peru.
